I have those CDs too, the only problem is that the people who compiled those CDs, at least the ones I know of, apparently think only the anthems of di tapanaris countries dem should be included. So I started compiling the anthems of all the countries that were excluded, and even replace those already included that I thought I found a better recording of. My aim is to compile all the anthems of the world. So MIDI stuff!

So for instance, I had an old recording of the Jamaica national anthem by the Jamaica Military Band. Believe it or not, I found an even better recording by the US Navy Band, and an orchestral rendition by a Japanese orchestra.

Limewire is a good source ... the subscription service, of course

The national anthems of Tanzania and Zambia also sample from this riddim.

All are derived from the anthem of the ANC (Nelson Mandela's party) which used it since the 1920's.

I thought Francis Scot Keyes was the composer of Star Spangled Banner..You live and learn so I will file that fact into my data base... I like historical anachonism...Thanks for that

As for theifing.. the music for the Jamaican National athem is based on some german composer.. which I cant recall...

Actually the best rendition and only time I ever like the Jamaican National Athem was when Jimmy Cliff sang it at the Jamaica England Football game and he changed the tune to a Nyabingi/ Pocomenia ridim.......

He's actually singing it to its original riddim and the nyabingi riddim just playing in the background. He's not singinig it to it. But it sound nice still.

My favourite rendition is the one that plays at midnight on the radio.

As you can see the original tune dates back to before 1619....

When compared to the yanki version which is claimed to be based on Murzio Clemente third Symphony.. whcih he borrowed from the British...

To deny that the yanki stole the tune from the british is a bit like saying Jehovah witnesses is not a form of Christianity.....or chistianity is not based on Judahism.. or Castro is not a communist....

I have never ever wanted a visa for the US. now thinking on this I have never had or ever applied for a US visa either.. Granted that I have been offered various contracts for residenence in the US for fortune 500 compaines (which I refused last week in fact I turned down such an offer from a ratehr charming lady)and have in the past managed a number of subsidies for US companies in Africa and Asia..

I have nothing but admiration for the US consittuion... I still think it is the most organic poltical development by man kind... I do however have an issue with people who refuse to recognise the rights of others to have an opnion based on their own experience.. And those who beleive that their uniquely limited knowledge base is the sum total of human experience.. I beleie this is what Marcus meant by Mental Slavery.. Imprisoned by limited conventions of societies common perceptions...You unfortunately seem to fall into both the latter and former category....This seems to be a commonality to so many but not all yanki's...

I come here to learn , to be entertained and ...I also hope I have imaprted something to the general knowledge base of particiant on this thread....And pray that my attempts at wittisms has raised as smile sometime. I admit that I know to little to hope anyone could learn anything from me..

Well, the words to the US national anthem came from a poem by Francis Scot Keyes when he was observing the bombing of Fort McHenry in Baltimore, MD by the British navy.

Yes, the tune of the star spangled banner is from a English <span style="font-style: italic">drinking</span> song. Who would have thought that drunken Englishmen (maybe even Irishmen?) inspired the tune to the world's most famous national anthem?
