I agree, the emphasis should be on incorporating black history into American history itself, and indeed, the history of civilization. When black history is seen as separate, it will remain being treated with condescension, as a little departure to be tolerated for 28 or 29 days, then get back to the really important stuff on March 1. </div></div>
During this election it was very clear how much "the black" is necessary for many, dissolving it appears to take away a history that a people have been trying to create, thinking that they never had
