Yeah, the margin shocked me also. But, I'm just shocked overall of this election...I never expected this.

Peasie, I did vote for Franchot (Democrat) for Comptroller.



Maryland was ranked as the sixth worst business climate in the country. You can't ignore that. If the state runs business out of town because of high taxes, and makes it hard for big business and small business to flourish, there aren't going to be jobs.

The middle class pay the taxes in this country and make it function, not the rich, there are not enough rich people out there to extort money from to cover all the needs, but I do think they should pay their fair share, but what is their fair share?

The rich supply the jobs for the middle class through their businesses. I'm for CUTTING TAXES FOR ALL BUSINESS IF THEY EMPLOY PEOPLE IN THE STATE. The more people employed, the less burden on the state for services for the unemployed. Also, employed people pay taxes...It stands to reason.

Ok..what's your answer to the economic dillema...Like it or not, there are only a few forms of employment, self employment, government job or working for private enterprise...and we all know that the government can't employ everyone, or pay everyone else's bills...at some point they run out of OTHER PEOPLES MONEY.

I'M NOT SUGGESTING WE LET BIG BUSINESS 'RUN A-MUCK'. That's nothing more than un-checked capitalism.


If we give business the incentive to stay and grow, instead of tooling up over seas, isn't that a 'win-win' situation for everyone involved? Capitalism follows cheap labor. Business needs a reason to tool up and stay here in the states. If not, they find countries (China) where they can do things cheaper.

The government needs to create a business friendly climate to help business start up and to allow companies to grow and prosper. Businesses=jobs=prosperity

It's not rocket science, it's capitalism.

so these small business owners are the "rich" you refer to who are providing the jobs for the middle class?

wonder how many of them consider them self among the rich ?

the average revenue for small business is well under 100K .

the talking heads have done a good job of conflating the rich with small business ....

I don't have the solution, I'm just pointing out that your assertion of "Businesses=jobs=prosperity" isn't necessarily so. Not the way things are set up now anyway.

I don't think its alot of minimum wage jobs being shipped overseas. Most manufacturing jobs are not minimum wage jobs. i the wages issue is a red herring .

as transportation costs increase and as China and other countries put in place more regulations you are starting to see manufacturing slowly move back.
