A film based on the life of Black Panther Party figure Angela Davis is currently in the works <span style="font-weight: bold">and the director of the flick has his eyes on Beyonce to play the lead role.</span>
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Franco-Algerian director Rachid Bouchareb made the revelation at the Berlin International Film Festival this week.
"<span style="font-weight: bold">I want Beyonce Knowles to play Angela Davis," Bouchareb said. "It's a great dramatic role for her."</span>
Davis was a key member of the Black Panther movement in the early 1970s. She earned notoriety when she landed on the FBI's 'most wanted list' after guns that were used in a courtroom breakout resulted in the murder of a judge and were traced back to her.
Davis was on the run for two months before being captured. She faced kidnapping and homicide charges but was eventually acquitted.
Bouchareb plans to begin shooting the Davis biopic in 2010.
