OBVIOUSLY SHE PROVOKED HIM AND EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES SO, IM NOT GOING TO DOWN TALK HIM NOR TRY TO BRING HIM DOWN LIKE THE WHITE MEDIA IS GOING TO. HE'S STILL A KID. KIDS MAKE DUMB CHOICES EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. GIVE THE KID A BREAK IT'S HIS FIRST TIME IN HIS 4 YEAR CAREER.

For anyone to suggest that only ghetto people hit their mates is ludicrous. Gosh, why do people always have to resort to racism when something happens in the news. It gets old and very tired.

I've been crying about this all day and would like to know the whole story.
Chris is a good guy that I would never think would do this.

Clearly, Chris has some very deep scars that he thought he had a handle on, but doesn't. He will need to get help so he will learn how to control his temper (if he did hit her). I'll bet Rhianna was the one who hit him first and then he flashes back to childhood, and before you know it Rhianna has a black eye and a scratch on her face. I blame both parties for letting an argument escalate to that point. Sometime it's best to just close your mouth(Rhianna). Takes two to argue. Plus, if you can't get along then you shouldn't be together in the first place.
Some readers did side with Rhianna and were quick to defend her against the Chris Brown fans. See their comments after the jump...
Anaya said: I am a HUGE fan of both Chris Brown and Rihanna. What he did to Rihanna was unacceptable. PERIOD. POINT BLANK. However, we have to assume that he is innocent until he is proven guilty in court. Since this was a one time thing, he needs counseling, not jail time. He also will need the support of his fans and admirers. Of course we cannot forget about Rihanna. She did not deserve that. I hope she has a speedy and full recovery. We've got to remember they're young, and being a teenager myself (I'm 15), I can understand that he made a mistake. We all make mistakes so no one has room to judge Chris or Rihanna.
I pray for the best for both of them.

I don't know what happened and I hope to God he didn't do it (although reports are saying he did) but just like we don't want to condemn him until he's proven guilty, don't show him any love either. I mean love him, sure but to be coming on here saying, "My boo, I love him, he'd never do it." Please don't glorify him until it's proven that he didn't do it. Just because he's handsome and can sing and dance is no reason to drool over him when he has these type of allegations hanging over his head!

What is wrong with this generation of young girls that they will actually a person who would beat a woman, and give her injuries so bad that she winds up in a hospital? You'd never know there was a women's movement in this country 40 years ago with all of the "stand-by-your-man" mentality going on. It doesn't matter if Rihanna allegedly "started" it, Chris Brown went waaaaaay to far in "finishing it" and he needs to remain in jail for a long time to come for it!
Are good looks and celebrity status enough to get out of an alleged domestic violence charge? Are Rhianna and Chris Brown, as some other commenters suggested, the new Whitney and Bobby? Is beating a woman a defensible action in ANY possible situation? State your opinion below.
