I found this article my total chance.. I hope it makes you as amused as it did me !!! link
I told you it was not the yam!
How do Chinese athletes win like Jamaicans!?
I have great ideas for the Chinese to win like the Jamaicans in track and field events. This is basically the secrets of athletic success so to speak which I had no other avenues to convey but here at China Daily. The Jamaicans won because they were trained on beaches and sand rather than solid ground. If you have ran on beaches before, you know that sand will pull you feet down and sink deep into it making your run very difficult and tiring. This will help to develop the strength of their legs. Training in extremely soft sand barefooted will help to stop feet from sweating and athlete foot plus other foot diseases. The soft sand beaches also provide perfect ground for long and high jump training. The warm weather in Jamaica perfect year round for training with cooling fresh sea breeze instead of Beijing's polluted air. Runners will constantly sweat and feel thirsty which is good for their metabolism. The island have relatively clean drinking rain water and fresh fish for diet which are good for athletes. Its government is politically stable and carefree to reduce stress. Therefore the ideal training ground for Chinese track and field are the beaches of some remote Hong Kong islands or the beaches in large Hainan Island. If my ideas were accepted the Chinese will win more than 130 medals in the next Olympic.
The most important lesson from this Olympic is that the best place for track and field training is isolation. The goal of any event is simply to participate regardless of the chance of winning medals. I personally disapprove the using money, advertisement and publicity as incentives to boost the morales of athletes such as what the USA has done. Those publicities will cause too much distractions, obstacles and hurdles to the success of track and field events such as hurdles this time.
