The mother was the eldest and was the family library as such she knew many things.
He was trying to capture all of that and her as his guard. He used to tell us all what he was doing. But the family wasnt too pleased and told him to let her spirit rest.
If you ask me he got stuck somewhere. He was never interested in plants just spirits. He never really got over her death, he was the last and she used to baby him. Was also very intelligent too. She left him all her property. But he wasnt ripe enough. Lets just say there was an Obeah showdown. The eldest outdid him. It was all mind work. And he signed over everything.
