I wrote this to the NY Post (http://www.nypost.com/postopinion/le...ers_editor.htm) <span style="font-weight: bold"> and </span> the U.S. Justice Dept.(http://www.usdoj.gov/contact-us.html)
Please join me in contacting these organizations and registering your protest. I fervently believe that this type of predudice must at last die.

Living in suburban New Jersey, I have not read the Post in many years, but the cartoon of 2/18/09 was enough to warrant a response. I am of an age to remember the trials of the 60's, when African Americans had to prove their worthiness of true citizenship with "literacy tests" and sit-ins. I remember the death of Emmitt Till, Brown vs. the Board of Education of Little Rock, Arkansas, and the March on Selma. It wasn’t enough to have been born in the U.S. or have fought in its wars; we alone had to pass exceptional trials in order to gain the right to vote, or attend certain schools, or marry whomever we wanted. For years we were portrayed as animalistic beings, subhuman and unworthy of due respect.
I am an educated citizen, a teacher. I know that Barack Hussein Obama did not personally write the Stimulus Bill of ’09, but it was/is the first bill put forth under his Administration and will forever carry his name and imprimatur. To imply that a chimpanzee was responsible harkens back to the days of yore when African and African Americans were likened to apes or other sub-human primates, a thought which apparently lingers in the hearts and minds of our bigoted countrymen. Now in the twenty-first century, the insult reappears so that the rising generation can be forever scarred by the image that branded their ancestors.
That virulent image is bad enough, but coupled with that is one of an officer of the law of the land shooting down said “ape” and tying it to the aforementioned stimulus bill. I consider this image the most damaging one, appealing to the lunatic fringe and inciting violence towards the President of the United States of America. It is unfortunate that the educational system has been “dumbed down” so much that we have had to suffer through the last years of colloquial leadership which has brought us the scorn of the rest of the planet; but now we are encouraging hate crimes against the President of the United States of America, something which in my book is treasonous and should be addressed to the full extent of American jurisprudence.
