A prominent businessman with branches of his organisation in May Pen, Linstead and Kingston was arrested yesterday by the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) for molesting his 12-year-old daughter.

According to a spokesperson for CISOCA, an employee saw the man sexually abusing the child and reported the matter to his son, who contacted the police.

His three daughters, aged 15, 12 and nine, were taken into state care last Thursday. The father was asked to visit CISOCA's offices for questioning but he failed to turn up.

The police arrested him yesterday at his attorney-at-law's office.

The Gleaner understands that the father was accused in the past of sexually abusing his daughters.

A businessman in his 60s could be slapped with more than <span style="font-weight: bold">20 counts of incest </span>and indecent assault following his arrest yesterday on allegations that he had been molesting his three young daughters.

The man, with auto-related businesses across the country, was held during the afternoon at his lawyer's office along Duke Street in downtown Kingston.

&quot;He was right here in my office in an interview with me when three officers from CISOCA [Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse] came in and took him away,&quot; attorney Vincent Wellesley told the Observer.

According to Wellesley, his client had come in to see him as he wanted to turn himself over to the police after learning on Saturday that he was wanted for questioning in relation to the alleged incidents.

The Observer was told that the married father - who had allegedly molested the children, ages eight, 12 and 15 years old, over a period - could be slapped with as many as 20 counts of incest in relation to one child alone.

It was reported that one of the incidents was witnessed at the man's office by one of his workers Wednesday, and a report was made. The children were reportedly removed from the home by the police on Saturday.

The businessman is scheduled to be interviewed by investigators on Thursday

You have a point. But I think the offenders use that 'point' in their favour. The stigma causes the mom and the kids and whoever else in the know not to come forward and he gets to keep on...

What will become of them??? Catch the abuser .. stop the abuse.

Sukana.. what do you propose the children be removed and the situation be handeled privatly so the offendor is free to harm some one elese..

Interacting with some abused children, they tell me greater shame is living with this secret. When the situation is exposed the child feels free knowing that they were 'victims' and not the 'problem' as they are trained to believe while in the situation.

That's the part that always get me...

In the cases I have have dealt with the mother is aware but some how 'blocks' it as she is battling her own abuse.. The whole situation is toxic and desperate..

The people who know the accused will in all likelihood know who the children are, but that is small compared to the damage done to these kids in private. Exposing the crime, while trying to protect them, is the challenge of the courts and the media. These offenders fall into the category of evil personified, and should be dealt with to the max allowed under the law.

I am not suggesting that the offender never come to justice. I am merely suggesting that in the quest to make the offender the public disgrace one must take the children into consideration. Anyway you turn it they will suffer. Even living as victims for the rest of their lives.

Yeah!! I know what you mean!! i had some little cousins where theie Dad was doing that and my cousin knew about it and did nothing. It turns out she was also getting abused. But!! I don't care!! if you getting abused is one thing!! how could you allow the abuse to continue with your kids

Never like the likkle dutty bwoy from day one, was just something slimy bout him....could not put my finger on it from I met him. Everyone else liked him and him always try push up him slimpy self pon me to get me to like him.....just cuss hout him parts....brite

Never the same indeed ... in one case the victim was abused as a child into their adult lives and that victim ended up becoming an offender..
