The governor of United States Virgin Islands has said that he sees the US territory as a bridge between Washington and the Caribbean.

Governor John deJongh was speaking in the US capital after a meeting with White House officials.

He was among governors who met principally to discuss the economic stimulus plan of the Obama administration:

Governor deJongh said he told White House officials that he wanted the views of the Virgin Islands and other offshore territories to be seriously considered rather than regarded as an afterthought.

Wha you tink cus we is US territory that we don' have any ting in common with the WI? Schupidness I hearin on the [censored] internet. We are not a STATE we're a TERRITORY. That means we're not part of the USA, we BELONG to the USA. We're still a Caribbean country with our own culture and traditions just like the other Caribbean countries, we're just not independent yet. Asking what we have in common with the WI is a stupid [censored] question. I wouldn't go Bermuda or to the Cayman Islands and expect to see tea and crumpets and British accents just because they're a British territory so why ayo tink we is some yankee place?!

I just can't believe in 2009 with every ting on the internet with Wikipedia/Google/YouTube/etc that someone would go to little jamaicans.com forum and ask that question. If you smart enough to find a jamaicans.com forum to ask that question then you smart enough to go do some damn research and stop making assumptions about Caribbean islands.

And to give you a short answer, we have similar dialects, foods, religious traditions, and common bloodlines with the surrounding WI islands. Again, go look it up if you need more specifics.... chuuuups actin like we is some johnny come lately country, when the Danish West Indies (our former name) been around for 300 f*kin years!!!

Cruz, hold up a sec, bro. I see you still have that fighting spirit no matter where you go. Yeah, you know who this is. You might want to wait until Evan comes back to clarify her title before you fly off on her. If I am not mistaken, her son came to the V.I to play ball a few years back. Not sure if she accompanied him (I'm not even sure if it was her, come to think of it) so she saw for herself. Maybe her question is rhetorical.
