You missed the point as to why <span style="text-decoration: underline">some people </span> are opposed to the idea of 'black history month.' Not because they/we feel that the struggles and achievements of blacks is not important, but because, certainly in my view, black history has been seen as separate from American history, almost as a departure. This shouldn't be the case. <span style="font-weight: bold">Black American history <span style="text-decoration: underline">IS</span> American history</span>, and should not be treated with the condescension that is now the case with the month of February, where it is something to be merely tolerated until America gets back to the 'real stuff' come March 1. African american history is deeply interwoven into the fabric of American history. They can't be separated. And black history is much bigger than African American history.

I empathize with anyone - black, native american, hispanic, arab, anyone - who has been oppressed and try to understand his/her outlook, even if I don't happen to agree with it 100% of the time. But you would seem to be suggesting that black people shouldn't eat watermelons?
