In th eaviation industry in Jamaica it is usually a damily affair. many brothers, but much more relatives.
My father use to fly, My broher and myself did while we were younger. Usually you have to be recomended, by some one and once they know a member of your family that's it.

Re: Jamaicans among first to fly A380 superjumbo jet
I actually thought when I see this why are people so surprised ????? or was it me who during my brief primary school education was forced to recite:
He who aims at a star
shoots higher far
than he who means a tree....
i know that is still taught in Jamaica.... the sentiment is what we are...
Have you all forgotten what it means to be a Jamaican ??? to compete with the best and beat them is what is expected.. not some exception.. We are a country of Garvey and other Scholars engineer. You all think Mary Seacole was exceptional hell no. I mean I always use the good Doc Dudd as an typical example.. not an execption.... A Harvard trained doctor.... Not that unexpected from Jamaicans..
Sorry but this is Jamaicans.com.. not yanqi, Kanadian Jamaicans.com...
If it is Magic well done... but that is what I expect.. So doing it is not surprising....
Jamaicans aim for the sky.. and dont expect to be beaten... I tell my children when you do something expect die out there.... Win or lose when its over dont say you can do better.. You do your best...
What is more concern is the lack of opertunity and the unforgiving nature of Jamaican education....
