86 year old consultant botanist, George Proctor who is charged with conspiracy to murder his wife, is to return to the Home Circuit Court on July 13.
It is expected that his trial will begin on that date.
Proctor and his co-accused, Glenmore Fillington, a 42 year old driver of Christiana, Manchester are on bail in the sum of $500,000 each with sureties.
Defence lawyer Tom Tavares Finson, who is representing Proctor complained today that the Crown had applied for too many adjournments in the case.
The trial could not proceed because one of the prosecution witnesses was said to be ill.
Senior Puisne Judge Marva McIntosh had ordered that the case should be placed on the trial list as a priority matter.
The Crown is alleging that sometime in 2006 Proctor paid Fillington $90,000 to murder his 66 year old wife.
Its alleged that he told Fillington that he was not happy at home and asked him to get someone to murder his wife.
Fillington allegedly got someone to do the job and, when divorce was mentioned, Proctor allegedly disagreed with the suggestion saying it was too much trouble because he would have to give his wife half of his assets.
The matter was reported to the police and they were arrested and charged.
[b] why such a innocent headline? Is it because he is a white American that attempted to murder his Jamaican wife?/
An old stick as that?/
