Physically, mentally...exhausted

Damn! Life will wear you out...Dec 22-23 worked a 24hr shift in the fire department, arrived home the morning of the 23d, rushed my wife to hospital, Dec. 23rd, 24th and 25th spent in the hospital as wife had more surgery.
I came home today (christmas) to shower and get a change of clothes and back to hospital. Dec 26 I have to work another 24hr shift with fire departmnet....I'm get'n old fast.

Sorry to hear of your wife's ill health. I know she had issues in the past, I hope all turns out well.

There are those of us that are also having a challenging time this Christmas. My brother's wife passed two days ago. She was 50.

May the New Year bring renewed health to your wife and to all of those who are suffering at this time.

24 hour shift is dangerous no ? I mean you are tired regardless of whether you are driving the truck, going into the buildings or desk work. The equipment (suit etc) is also heavy. I live about a block from a firehouse, the guys use one of those rear steering trucks. I always stop and stare when they pass by going to calls.

Anyway, hope your wife does much better for the new year, sending virtual prayers and blessings to you guys.

To Lone wolf...don't be macho..I will think on you. Not on your wife...you will be doing that..... Be cautious....think don't react.....have a way out...and the mantra we had "slow is smooth, smooth is fast "....

If u are tired u make misjudgements.... And yo may over estimate u and the resources capability.... And if you are distracted even more so...rememberer your wife will need you so you can't afford to be distracted bynher so don't think on her.. ....I expect after an incident you will feel guilty after you realised u hadn't been thinking of her....guilt is good that means you had eyes are on your safety...she needs you to think of you and not of her when you are on the job.....

You know this...trust ur training,have faith ur team... But check recheck and check again......then get another pair of eyes...know the limitations of yourself your team and your resources... Don't ever over estimate these limits....underestimate it is safer.... Another trusim I follow.. " better to look at it than for it"...more is better!!!!
Keep focused...

Don't listen to me I am not too smart....under estimate your capability..... Itmgives you redundancy.... But you know all this **** already....only trust urm instincts when it tells you not to...never trust your instincts when it tells you to.....

I have forgot I have to do a survival refresher this year.....and it includes firefighting....
