Question for NY/NJ and FL people

Has anyone ever driven between the NY metro area and FL?

How many days did it take you? If you stopped what are good places to stop & stay?

i did that drive long long time ago ...i think its about 20 hours (depend on if you drive the limit or not)

its two easy driving days (if you have stamina you can do it in one day ) you will probaly be looking to stop somewhere in south carolina

i enjoy the long drives....coupel years ago we drove to Myrtle beach SC...15 hours strait....left at midnite lil one slep thru the night so we didnt have to stop til 8 am when they woke for breakfast.....then a couple movies and we were there

Savannah Ga does not look far off the path. I drove once to Palm Coast Fl and we made it in one day.. Jacksonville may be a stop off point too.

I've done it a few times. When I was younger I loved it cuz we made stops along the way at the beach etc.. Sometimes we drove straight thru making food stops/bathroom stops only that took about 20 - 24 hours, sometimes traffic piled up.

More recently I made the trip as an adult and it sucked! I hate sitting that long, traffic, road food....We did stop in Atlanta to drop someone off, then at my aunts in LA to sleep one night before heading on I think that's how I survived. I'll never do it again.

A friend just drove straight from Orlando last month stopped once to sleep at a rest stop cuz he drove along and it took him 19 hrs so he say and he was driving above the speed limit most of the time.

As far as places to stop I don't know of any hotels to suggest we mostly and stayed with family when we did stop, a few times we stayed at misc hotels in Myrtle Beach, SC..

It makes me wonder if I should give up my personal airplane boycott and just fly

but I like the flexibility of leaving/arriving on my own time and not have to worry about renting a car while in Fl.

sounds like a long drive - but the journey is part of the trip

i think i would think about stopping in DC - loads of stuff there to see - and Michelle may invite you into the White House

after DC - Savannah is beautiful or stop in Beaufort and check out the Gullah cultural (near Charleston if you want to do a day at the beach too)

then you can come to my house and easily make it to south florida

95 all the way!

We do go to DC often so we are ok with that. Traffic scares me so would like to get through DC as early &amp; quickly as possible.

Your town was on my list of spots too Seveen because after that it is just across 10 to 75

It is nice to have places to stop &amp; stay along the way. Did think of Atl too as they have places to visit &amp; stuff.. but I recall ATL traffic

if you are going to west florida - tampa area

you can take 95 to I-4 and go that way

it takes you through st augustine (oldest city in the nation) daytona beach (some stuff to see there) and orlando

atlanta is 5 hours west of I95 but you can pick up I75 from there

the giant aquarium is in atlanta - but i am so over atlanta

Well is took us about 24 hours from CT...but then we had to stop alot because of the kids...

we did it straight shot with just me and my husband in 18 hrs

trying to think of fun places off 95 but there's nothing that comes to mind...everywhere else takes you too far off the highway IMO
