I don't think it was. But it doesn't necessarily mean that Mugabe was behind this, and I can see how many, especially in the West, will easily blame him. Things are seldom what they <span style="font-weight: bold">seem</span> to be.

Definitely agree with that it was no accident. Mugabe hasn't survived this long by being stupid, so it seems unlikely that he would make such a blatantly obvious attempt against his political rival.

Seldom are the "capo di tutti capi" directly responsible for the doings of the cosa nostra. That's why it's hard to pin them down due to lack of evidence.
Remember under Mugabe there are bosses and underbosses each with their own "soldiers". All have one goal to defend. Keep Mugabe in power. When he goes, they go.

So although Mugabe himself may not gave given a direct order to kill Tsvangirai, perhaps some top aids in the regime sensed the big bosses' annoyance with the idea of "power sharing" and ordered the execution.

I think a 'target' of this importance would be hit only on orders from the boss. How does it serve Mugabe's interests to assasinate Morgan what's his name?

As heartless as this may sound, thank goodness only the missus died in the crash, otherwise Britain would be sending in the troops to "restore" democracy in Zimbabwe and farms to Anglo <span style="text-decoration: line-through">thieves</span> landowners.

And I agree, a 'job' of this importance would definately have to clear the papi's desk. But I picture is as just a formality.

That's a very interesting point bearing in mind the duplicious world that we live in.

Israel's Mossad, for example, assassinate anti-Syrian Lebanese politicians, knowing full well that people will automatically assume Syria ordered the murder.

in an email going around, u were shown pics of one raatid palace belonging to the PM or President, and you were asked to guess which country this palace could be, and u would never beleive that a country like Zimbabwe, with so many starving people, that a PM had such a palace~~
