(it was debated at hte last coronation in cabinet apparently to try and use as a poltical connection to slow down the process of decolonisation. my father told me of this.. hearing it at the time...

.. it is as far as i know irrelevant... if one did the same thing to the royal house of ethopia or Kano or Asanti would there not be a similar perpensity to demonstrate that there was european blood in it ? does it change the significance of royality ????? In Jamaica to say a royality bizniss it means incest.... Well the houses of europe certainly were incesteous to the nth degree...

i beleive one version of this african royality connection, the lady in question and the blood line came from an immigrant family of converso from spain to Portugal, then.. who were expelled during hte reconquista.. thence to marry into some minor German principality a few hundred years before entering the British royal family...

converso means a family who changed relgion / loyalty during post re conquista. (today if you come across the surname Reyes in spain it is an orpant that came under the kings protection and may have been from from a converso under spanish Libanstrum rules)..

conversos may have been arabic, a europena family that converted from christianity to islam during the time of Al Andalus or a sub sharan african.... this was about some hundred years before the lady in question entered the british royal family.. and that was some hundred years ago....

anotehr version is that Alphonso I a great king of Angola or Kongo (famous for slave trading thence to oppose the slave trade) sent one of his daughters by a possible white wife to marry into the portugese royal family..

My attitude to royality (and religion for that matter) is summed up by a saying I heard once ..

Queen Charlotte (1744-1818) was the wife of George III (1738-1820).

and the British colonials in the Bahamas didnt consider the Greeks white (there is a large Gk population who came after the sponges died out in the Gk islands in the early 20th century)
and if you check the recent US census they now putting Arabs in the white category!
