If these Africans behave the same as they do here, not much will change for blacks in England. As a matter of fact, it will only get worse. There was supposed to be my next spot. Nigerians here in the UK call the Jamaicans slave babies! A documentary on TV was aired some 2-3 years ago that really made Jamaicans out to be bums. In a nutshell they reckon that immigrants from African countries especially Nigeria were of middle class and they came here as doctors etc. and academically their children outperformed Jamaicans. The documentary kept up the Jamaican bashing by suggesting that Jamaicans that came to britain except the slave trade came here as the rejects poorer classes that came over on the Windsrush ship to fill the menial and labour jobs whilst the Nigerians supposedly came to fill the white collar jobs.

I regret to say this but the street sweepers in London I've seen so far personally are mostly africans. The car wash service in supermarket car parks I have personally seen are mostly africans but that does not take away from the fact that they do well in business and in professional areas like doctors - Yes some do have Phd behind their names whilst packing shelves in supermarkets. I have never met a Jamaican doctor in London.

In terms of your wikipedia link; you have to bear in mind that imho africans tend to have more children per parents than Jamaicans in the UK. Asians too tend to have more children than Jamaicans in the UK, so looking ahead the asians will outnumber the blacks and the whites and the africans will outnumber the Jamaicans if this trend continues in the UK.

Good observations. But why Jamaicans couldnt group up with Trinis or other Caribbean people? Except me can imagine that the Indian-Trinidadians would polarize to the Asian side. The original Trinidadians were more into the Caribbean spirit.

Hearsay: My aunt was telling me years a back that there had been a community programme running on television for West Indians and it was in the hands of Jamaicans who programmed solely Jamaican. It became boring and the programme was passed on to Africans. Don't remember any names but I can imagine it to be true.

I`m glad you touch on the culture issue,especially those of africans,carribean, and asians.
When people in the Us talk of race relations in europe and the Uk they are naive to the different cultures that make up the black community in europe,they do not understand that there are no common ground amongst blacks here.

Even a couple weeks ago an african guy said to me that Jamaicans are all bad,I had to put him straight,.....also the somalians and Jamaicans do not get on.

I do know one thing though,as my trini friend put it to me,if it wasnt for Jamaicans in this country black people wouldnt get half the respect they do now.

Overall though the pakistanis and the indians do better than other blacks because they help each other,they support each other in business,and they strive to open their own businesses,and employ each other,whereas a black man will more likely try and break down what another black man build,or expect to get his goods or services for free.

Education is another area where asians fare better,and as you quite rightly point out,there are numerous more asian doctors,dentists,and other professionals than there are other blacks.

apply the same logic to the british as to the black groupings... A scots man would rather die than be equated to the English.. Many welsh are the same... Take out the men from Cornwall and those from Liverpool who claim alliance to theri regions... As for the &quot;millions&quot; of recent immigrants from the EU are they English even after they get british passport ? there are I am told a million French men does the same logic not apply...

Yes,I agree but these guys are not in a minority,they are white wherever they go,its not really a regional issue,its more one of colour,I dont think the poles and the checzs and all the other immigrants wishes to be seen as english,...but they can blend into british society a lot easier than you or I,..even those with strong accents,or no english.

I never understood this phenomena. Is's like every shop sells the same stuff. If someone does well everyone get's [censored]. Are the Ananci stories the 'how to do good business' ethics that controls all outcomes?

Doing business means keeping your agreements. If you a person who keeps their agreements, you can take that to the bank... or you used to be able to...

They all owe a lot to us Jamaicans.

I heard on some occasions unsubstantiated comments about being overcharged when its more to do with not wanting to pay full price for 'black' brothas and sisters goods and services.

I have even seen 'black' people who are running medium sized businesses deliberately employ a white face to front the business and serve the customers to enable the business to be successful. As I mentioned earlier, the support from whites and asians of 'black' businesses are almost non existent and putting a white face behind the counter or on the shop floor changes the perception. Ironically, even though those asian who run businesses that rely 100% on 'black' customers to stay open employs no 'black' staff at all. Go into the many asian run hair and beauty shops and you will see what I mean.

Even in London places like brixton - I have seen asian who can hardly speak english much less Jamaican patwa; selling yam, green banana, patty, salt fish, ocro, sweet sop, sour sop, ackee, jack fruit yuh name it dem have it... goat meat, cow foot etc. and not one Jamaican employed innah dem place. White butchers too selling Jamaican meats but no Jamaican working in dem butcher store yet blacks support dem without a light bulb going off in their heads. It's not just the infrastructure that is lacking in the UK among our people its the mindset. Some are quick to blame whiteman for this that and the other but don't see the small things that equates to the bigger picture.

The only businesses that thrives well within the 'black' community with strong support from 'blacks' are barber shops and womens hair and beauty salons.

That is something I`ve always found strange,asians going into the black community and selling jamaican/carribean produce and running thriving businesses selling the kind of stuff that black people should be selling to each other.
There are numerous hair and beauty shops in manchester here selling wigs,weaves,bleaching creams,and hair products all run by asians.

A point of interest,here in Manchester no Jamaican artiste performs anymore,no promoter will bring any singers or DJ`s from jamaica to perform in manchester.
The reason for this is that people were turning up at the doors demanding to be let in for free,and showing the butt of their guns in their waistband as some kind of get in free card,shooting up the venues,fighting,and acting like hooligans.........and yet if an international artiste came to manchester at any of the white venues they payed whatever it was and behaved themselves.

Tell me about it, earlier on I used to mail order product from 2 black magazines, I think one is called black hair, I do not know anymore. Anyways, when I visited the supermarkets in the ads, I was surprised to see that all of them were Indian owned, including those two magazines. But I must hand it to them they can see black beauty.

Following that same model, an Indian opened a supermarket here to target Africans and Caribbean people. Needless to say they all flood there and it is like a sign of prestige to be able to shop there for the Africans it seems. On the other hand, there is a Nigerian woman with the shop and quite frankly she is racist towards me, every time I go there the prices jump even when the label on them. She give me the white people treatment.

Now there are 5 Indian supermarkets selling black related products
