Just to add to the mix, it's the same story on other islands. During the recent upheaval in Martinique and Guadeloupe, a wealthy <span style="font-style: italic">béké</span> (white from French Caribbean) was interviewed on telly chatting about wanting to "preserve the (white) race". No doubt others feel the same way but aren't stupid enough to say so on national television. (More details).

Exactly Blackstar. It boogles my mind that in this thread we have had some Bpack women making excuses for them and trying to give these guys a free pass for their racism.

As far as I'm concerned, it's not about who white men marry because I don't really bizness with that. To me it's more worrying that so many black men (up to 50% in the UK) are marrying non-black women.

Since you went there ...it has nothing to do with my ego ... one came into this office that they were all saying was smoking hot and while him not hard on the eyes he did nothing for me ... you know many not all and we've had the discussions many times and I know people who have dated them and said hell no never again ... why is it so hard for you to accept that while you want white man to date/marry not most black women don't have that fixation? </div></div>

1. I never said I want to date/marry a White man. I couldn't give a HOOT about a man's race as long as he is established, treats me well and we are compatible.

2. This has nothing to do with a fixation.....In countries like Jamaica in which the majority of people are Black, wealth is concentrated in the hands of the Non-Black population. The primary method for transfer of wealth is through marriage and family.Cleary thes you think it's okay for the Non-Black population to control the wealth in Black countries. The word house negro comes to mind right about now.

Finally, YOU don't speak for all or most Black women in or out of Jamaica.....remebmer that.

Blackstar, for me it's the whole package that is of concern...the shortage of Black men, the high % of Black men marrying non-black women combined with the very low % of non-black men marrying Black women. It all means that Black children are increasingly raised in poverty by single mothers and Black women having less and less access to successful marriage partners and less and less opportunity to provide a decent standard of living for their children.

Your observation is spot-on, but the questions I ask myself are: Why aren't black people better at creating wealth? And when we do create wealth, why do *we* marry other into other ethnic groups, thereby causing the wealth to ultimately leave black hands?
