As I child I was told repeatedly by so many that yu chat bad.(as a Taino I am against that grain).. and to see Tropu accuse the man of chatting bad is in the identical priniple in my eyes.. a triumphanism of insecurity.. personally I have always thought that so called chat bad was much more musical...

Fledg postulated that the broader the patwa the poor.. as one moves up the social economic ladder the less broad your accent become.. I would add the codicil as one moves further up the social economic ladder then the insecurity that it is easy to disparage the poverty with the &quot;term chat bad&quot;.. uit has become common currency...

But yu kno educated yanki love tell mi aff bout mi syntax suggest dat mi ah hediat....I find the idea that paler Jamaicans speak with broadest patwa not normal but then not unusual..

for the record I still have a Jamaican accent that is not as broad as it was when I went to Munro at 11....
