Yes as recently was 5 years go. they use to martry first cousins,and still do,but some just find their own wife, in the old country.
As long as they do not marry outside of the sub ulture in Lebanon, they are usually 'DREWS' (some say the original Jews).
And this is decided by the patriarc of the family.
usually as soon as the son falls in love with a local wpman,they are given am ultimatum.

For Britisha....re: mass shunnings....if a group of people lives in a country for over 100 years and there is little or no inter-marriage, yes to me it appears as if mass shunnings going on. Now I am from the outside looking in so naturally, drawing on my own frames of references, I will have a different perspective from someone who was raised in the culture. I guess I contrast it to the % of Black men in North America married to Whites and a common excuse that is used...&quot;it's because the White women are in the majority and perceived as 'the ideal'. Racial discriminatation, anti-miscegination laws, etc. have been the main reason for the historical low rates of inter-marriage between Blacks and Whites in America. Racial discrimination has also been the main reason for the historical low rates of inter-marriage between Blacks and Whites in Canada. It does appear to me looking in that the bulk of these successful non-Black men are with women who aren't Black. No I don't have statistics. It's my impression from interacting with people, the photos I see in the Gleaner, etc. <span style="font-weight: bold">My impression may or may not be correct.</span> You wonder why I start these threads. I grew up seeing Black women rejected because of race. I assumed that in MY country the opposite would hold true. I quickly found out that White rules everywhere in terms of privilege and power and this was shocking. So, it kinda stuck in my craw and still does and I want to understand the dynamics at play. Now in terms of dating, DEFINITELY the prospects for Black women are a million times better than they are in White communities in North America. TOTALLY different picture.

2. the % of Black women in America who are single improve so that there is less than or equal to a 5% gap between the % of Black women married and the % of White women married.

3. a drastic reduction in the number of Black women going through the stress and strain of raising kids on their own with no father involved or inside....yup an improvement so that there is less than or equal to a 5% gap between the % of Black women raising kids on their own and the % of White women raising kids on their own.

ONLY then, will I consider the playing field to be level.

FYI, my ex was TOTALLY opposed to interracial marriage, even though ALL of his maternal aunts (very light skinned Blacks) were married to those poor White Germans we spoke of earlier....<span style="font-weight: bold">all of them</span>. His mother (also very light) was the only one who married a dark Black man, a very dark and very hard working Black man by the way. </span>

Until I consider the playing field to be level, I will continue to lick out 'gainst these racist men and no matter what my dating or marital status.

It's interesting that as (I believe it was Neutral who pointed it out), no one gets on blackgiant's case or dahjah's case. There stand is even stronger than mine. They are TOTALLY opposed to interracial marriage PERIOD!!. Seems like there is a bit of sexism at play here and some of the women are the WORST offenders. In fact, MOST of the offenders are women...PERIOD.

Me sorry, I think the both have some personal issues with it, you do not. dahjah have something against marriage period and blugiant just through darts. I do not see the victim in the whole issue and I am not sure what is the driving force either.

I can relate to many things you say but you cant shuffle people like statistics.
Black + white have different values as a matter of fact, servitude might be the solution for black women. See what is wrong with that?
