Orphanages in Jamaica - raising money

Good morning everyone,
I am wondering if anyone can direct me to some different orphanages in Jamaica.
With my church here in Ontario - I have raised some money and will be raising more and I'd like to see that money go to orphanages that really need it.
Some (any) direction or information would be wonderful.

I'm hoping Kia will come in here. We supported a group home several years ago when we were on another board but for the life of me, I cannot remember the name.

if memory serves correctly Johnny an June Cash were very hands on active supportors of them... I think it was SOS, any ways it was a childrens home in Mobay

It was the National Childrens Home in Jamaica up by Hope Gardens

Our HOME PAGE LINKS - Helping Jamaica has a variety of NGO's which may have programs in the areas you are considering.


Also... one of the school groups in Ontario has an annual program SEE JEUNE ESPOIR JAMAIIQUE (Youth, Hope Jamaica) Each year they fundraise in the Ottawa area and students go to Jamaica for March Break, with donations of products, school supplies, other items... work in Aged Home for the Blind, Orphanage, and usually build one housing structure or playground equipment... they connect through a specific Church who arranges their schedule and other requirements. They have been online with us for discussion before and after many of their trips, (see discussions archives)

Ja.com works a lot through JAMPACT and they have an Adopt-a-School program....


George Brown College also has an Adopt-a-School Program


PACE Canada operating out of the Toronto area also operates an adopt-a-school program (mainly Basic Schools) but you may be able to work in Orphanages in their program... at the least get some cooperative information.
