When an individual, a people or a country say: We are/I am the Best they rarely ever consider the competition. In the first instance it very likely for self-motivation and after that they have faced some self-test (Another opponent ....as in sports, compared GDP.... as in Nations) and beaten them into submission.
So called Professional World Champion Boxing is the most egregious example. Rarely do the so-called World Champion face all-comers worldwide and even when they are prepared to take on most challengers it is usually on friendly territory, with decidedly home advantage.

And again keeping it to Sports even when Foreign Players come to the USA to participate in World Series/NBA World Championships/NFL Superbowl World Championships, is very likely they are very familiar with the USA System having seen a USA Expert sent to their Locale to train/advise/scout their teams.

In the best of worlds it would be unnecessary, because world means world when it is representative of countries or nations etc, or it should not at all be used. We have to make our own realities.
Wake early before your day starts and grab it by the scruff of its neck and make it do your bidding - simple and use our own words...

The fact that the terminology is used to describe the activities in one country says more about the country so describing itself and not the world.
Russia, China, India calls no sports World anything, even if they are the only people who do the sports and they all have more participants.
Somehow these countries have no need to project from a point of fear. "lets get them before they get us" Lets create a matrix world of false realities"

These specific soldiers are among weakest individuals among the citizenry and then police, they all have an establishment state of mind and are easily led by this ability to exercise power over others.

They need these people to suppress their own kind and protect their rulership

No soldier will go to an aggressive war unless he is told of the certainty of his success and how inferior and dumb the enemy is.
In point of fact a soldier in such a situation is twice a victim, one in his emotional development and the other made so by his abusive (to the point of his murder) by his govt, who never or rarely send their children.

So I say personally, Soldiers are lied to. Police are pimps and they commit atrocious things in the name of themselves, not the govt.
They are responsible and accountable.
And they are also cowards today they fight a war from the safety of distance.

Well the USA coming late to the Empire table has always suffered from this. The need to prove that it is best at everything, even when co-opting entire system and practices from then more established nations. The problem/or good thing (depending on the perspective), is the many peoples of other countries feel USA Expertise/Practices is better than slice bread and will happily ditch their own unique culture to sign on to the USA Band wagon.
