The question me have either way, is why people are so afraid of those who pray? What is so wrong, bad and threatening about praying? I've always wondered bout that.

Well, my mind tell me that there were survivors as a result of him praying, otherwise they'd be searching only for the blackbox.

Not ot mention that if he did the passengers lives could possibly be saved.
If prayer could fly the plane, why di they not use a preacher instead?
Or watever he was praying for, could he not do it after he landed the plane safely??

I am very afraid of someone - a automobile driver, pilot, surgeon, etc, - who, in an emergency situation, believes that prayer is a substitute for ignoring proper procedure.

I don't think him did use it as a substitute or ignored procedures. He did crash land the plane after all.

He must believe the scripture that says &quot;prayer changes things&quot; and the other that says &quot;God helps those who help themselves&quot;.

See, this is the problem here: praying to a deity who is incapable of providing maximum response; he/she/it can only save some, not all, or were those 16 passengers not deemed worthy to be saved?

This pilot whose negligence caused the deaths of 16 people is still alive. I suppose 10 years is the maximum under Italian law for criminal negligence.

After smelling &quot;burned bird&quot; in the engines, the pilot who splash-landed a jet with 155 people on board safely in New York's Hudson River says he left the praying to &quot;somebody in back&quot;.

In his first major broadcast interview about the January 15 accident, pilot Chesley Sullenberger yesterday told CBS he focused on landing and did not think about the passengers.

&quot;Not specifically ... I mean, I knew I had to solve this problem. I knew I had a job to do.&quot;

Drawing on his 42-years' flying experience, Sullenberger put nerves and panic aside and coolly assessed the situation, talking with air traffic controllers about his limited possibilities, finally deciding to land his plane in the frigid river water.

&quot;I think, in many ways, my entire life up to that moment had been a preparation to handle that particular moment,&quot; he said.

The former United States Air Force fighter pilot was asked if at any point in the three-minute ordeal he prayed for salvation.

Even a few seconds of praying could have resulted in a fatal outcome. So Pilot Sully didn't see the use of praying and managed to glide his plane down on the Hudson, all passengers eventually saved, while our praying pilot nose-dived his plane <span style="font-weight: bold">after praying</span>, killing 16 passengers.
