PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) A man opened fire on officers during a domestic disturbance call Saturday morning,<span style="font-weight: bold"> killing three of them, a police official said.</span>

Friends said 23 year-old Richard Poplawski feared the Obama administration was poised to ban guns.

Three officers were killed.

ORTING, Wash. - F<span style="font-weight: bold">ive children were found dead at a home outside the city of Orting after their father reportedly killed himself in a neighboring county, a television station reported Saturday.</span>

Pierce County sheriff's deputies went to a home in a trailer park at the request of the King County Sheriff's Department after the father committed suicide, NBC affiliate KING reported on its Web site.

Pierce County sheriff's investigators told The News Tribune the children apparently were victims of homicidal violence.

I don't approve of spin tactics being used in articles. His fear that Obama would ban guns has nothing to do with his misuse of them. There will always be persons who misuse guns. The question is w/e or not the benefits brought by those guns outweighs the damage done by the minority. I say, and any honest person will say, that an armed population is an important thing. All studies show stricter gun control laws result in higher crime rates. Why? When you take guns out of the hands of honest persons only dishonest persons will have them. You can't take guns away from criminals so we need ours. Also the fears of a wild west scenario couldn't be further from the truth has no factual basis. Quite the opposite. There is a town in the US that required all households to have a firearm. Wild west shootouts were predicted. They have been murder free since that year, while surrounding towns of similar make up who banned guns have seen a drastic rise in crime. Now i'm not advocating for giving everyone a gun willy nilly, or any type of gun. But Jamaica would be much safer if we allowed more suitable candidates to be armed. And all the plans to eradicate crime long term are nice and dandy, but we need something that works NOW.
