Joking too much
Dear Pastor,
Good day to you. I have been married to a Jamaican man for the last 12 years. The problem is that he is stubborn and doesn't want to take matters seriously. He is always at a bar and I don't like his ways. When I speak to him about my likes and dislikes, he just laughs. I am at the end of my rope and I feel that I am wasting my time with him. I have fallen out of love with him. How do I get through to him? I want to make him realise that things here in Canada are not like things in Jamaica.
Thank you for your time and effort you give to us all. Take care.
M., Ontario, Canada
Dear M.,
Please continue to try to help your husband. He has taken you for granted, but he loves you. He is just behaving like a fool. Some men don't take life seriously. But you are still very fortunate that you are not having any 'woman' problems with him.
Perhaps, what you can do is to have your pastor talk to him. If you can find an older Jamaican man whom he respects, who has lived in Canada for a long time, who can help to give him some guidance, he may listen to him. Men should talk to men. When their women talk to them, sometimes they feel that they are trying to control them. So hang in there with him and hope for the best.
Pastor
