Medical care in Jamaica

Mawning aftanoon and eveling to one and all. I begging some informations from all you goodly people.

What is your perception of medical care in Jamaica. Mi a hear some tjhings and mi tempted fi take a sabattical and go plant miself down there and do some investigation. No lie. Mi feel like say the doctors have a know-it all attitude, and they are giving messages of doom when there are other options that can be pursued. Now wen them tell a patient that- the patients there who may still believe in these experts, and take the word of the treating professional as gospel.

Mind you I have NO medical experience, but mi feel like say maybe mi need fi start see who an who mi can get involve fi help furtha this thing, because is like demma kill off ppl, when it nuh haffi go so

If anybody have any experience, or want give me some guidance, i welcome it!

my father has nothing but praise for his doctors...but I don't have any personal experience with the medical system in Jamaica.

i do know that some people go to Cuba for medical care....maybe that's an option?

My feeling is that it depends on $$$$$ and where you get your care, and who you are (status)

Yes he had a major illness. still managing diabetes on an everyday basis.

Make sense. I guess even up here thats the case to a degree. But they do have big c treatment down there cuz i know a lady getting treatment for her 2nd growth. She had great results the first time. But i question the followup regimen.

But why them tell u father to come Fla? They were thinking theres no treatment there?

I have another lady that her doc in Jamaica told her that har 'life been shorten' and there is NO recourse. No lie a same dry so the doctor man tell har, but she come here to FL and now undergoing tx for Stage 4. its not too late, but one would think that any problem would have been seen b4 it get too advance if u under a doctors care??!

Not ness tuffy, it depends on the Dr individually as well as the person and the type of cancer. I know people here (canada) who were advised to not get any treatment for the cancer by their Dr because it was a) too advanced b) incurable. Dr tell dem to just go home, live life an get their estate in order.

just because you under a Dr care does not guarantee that Cancer will be discovered/diagnosed at an early stage.

WEll in this lady case, she had a growth, dr. operated to remove it, and recommended no follow up tx. 7 mos later, him find that it metastacized to another organ, adn pronounced a death sentence. Mi tink supm wrong with that pic.


Yes Gen, thats what i'm thinking, caw mi think them (docs) mite need help organizing tx and follow-up care. What i was thinking was to access health records of people who have died, and have a group of professionals look over the care prescribed, and the response. Then the advocacy/review team can make recommendations on best practices docs SHOULD be doing.

mi membah mi cousin did tell mi one time seh all the mentally ill sometime fraid fi guh a clinic guh talk cause the nurse dem a bawlout name and diagnosis inna the clinic like seh dem a chat to the whole world and not the person sitting/standing in front of them.

Tuffstuff I understand and surgery seems to be a quick fix for everything sometimes ... I didnt have any problems with my care but then I stuck to the same doctors all the time so that may not count...

Tuff, how would this group gain access from the doctors, to people's private medical records?
