in all seriousness, though, i've read up a bit more today on Josephine Baker (and i thank the thread starter for motivating me to do so, though i know i'm on her ignore list). Josephine's greatest accomplishments, imo, were not her dancing in paris, or even her assistance to the french resistance (great though that was) but her protests against segregated clubs in the u.s. when she returned there.

i think that's safe advice. i don't support bashing of thread starters, but i do believe a discussion is a shared thing, and not the property, so to speak, of the thread starter.

they did a piece on her on CBS a few weeks ago

she died on April 12

i don't mind being on ignore, and most of Tropicana's topics i read but don't participate. but Josephine Baker's story is on that has always intrigued me, and the videos Tropicana has posted are interesting to watch.

BTW is it me, or is there a bit of resemblance in the face between josehine baker and our marilyn?

what I recalled that she had more pictures taken than Mary Pickford who was THE celebrity of her time..

This is a nasty piece to say the least...why turn to personal attacks in what could be a reasoned debate. She already said why she posted, and I can also understand her wanting to close the piece, since it will lead to this form of personal attack.

Possible that i may have joined the wrong board - blame the title of the site - but you asked a question - she answered, to me it demonstrates that she believes you and was being sensibly in providing an answer to an asked question...and what do YOU classify as &quot;sensibility&quot;

one time in negril she even had her hair done just like her

and the body type is similar
