Very interesting question Derek! Mi just browsing before mi hit di sack and saw this. From the little I know and was taught to me many moons ago, I'll share it with you. Based on science (physics) "Black" is not a colour. The theorists or scientists, say that "black" is the absence of colour. "White" on the other hand, is considered to be "the combination of all colours.
You can take it for what it's worth... At the time, I wondered if it was "racism" as the teacher was "white". So much for science : ~ In regular life, "Black is a colour, the best one of the lot. Why are there so many black cars these days? Based on their theories, I would say 'WHITE' is not a colour...

black is the essence of all colour, while yt or white is the lack thereof.
