DID MOM, STUDENT BEAT SCHOOL GUARD?
A security guard at a Corporate Area school found himself on the wrong side of a mother's wrath after a dispute between him and her son, who is a student at the institution.
It is understood that the mother and the guard got into a tussle after he earlier had a confrontation with her son, who refused to be searched before entering the school compound.
When the teen and his mother appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last week, Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey said the charges brought against them should be revised.
They were both charged with malicious destruction of property in relation to jewellery the guard was wearing, resisting arrest, obstructing the police and disorderly conduct. The RM also asked why the guard was not charged.
Medical certificates in the case were not brought when the matter was called up and RM Pusey ordered that the matter be brought back to court on June 22.
THE STAR learnt that on the day of the incident, the youngster was to be searched by the security guard at the school before entering the compound. The student objected, however, and the guard was punched in the face.
The guard's baton was then reportedly used to hit the boy in his head. The boy immediately ran home and got his mother. It is alleged that both went back to the school and confronted the security guard, resulting in a fight.
Policemen who were on patrol in the area quelled the dispute and charged the mother and son.
