Well, the alleged plot came just as there is heated debate around whether detainees at Guantanamo Bay should be transferred to the US mainland. It is being alleged that they 'hatched their plot' while serving time in jail together. Also, right-wing fear monger and current Israeli PM, Benjamin Netanyahu, was in the US for talks with Obama. The plot to blow up a synagogue fits nicely into the narrative of the constant threats faced by jews simply because they are jews.

The reaction is naive to me that this is a serious threat to America. There are no &quot;sleeper cells.&quot; Islamic fundamentalism is not a threat to the American way of life, like communism or the Nazis, and yet our government since 911 insists on acting like it is.

The notion that Guantanamo prisoners are a threat if brought to the mainland is so preposterous that it doesn't deserve a response, and yet the people seem to actually believe that they are? America <span style="font-style: italic">is</span> terrorized! They lost the war, and could not be more vulnerable to political scams.

<span style="color: #000066">If those men were capable of being any serious harm to anyone, other than as petty criminals, maybe arsonists, they would have known those explosives were fake.
They were obviously in way over their heads to make so many mistakes, and a good defense lawyer should be able to get them off these charges. Unfortunately, they are probably poor, and will have to use a court-appointed lawyer, so their <span style="font-style: italic"><span style="font-weight: bold">goose</span></span> is cooked!!

Extremists of the racial kind probably get away with committing acts of terror against unarmed, innocent people all the time, so one would wonder about a few black men who are obviously being taken for idiots.</span>
