Seven persons were arrested on Wednesday for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act following separate operations mounted in Bull Savannah, St. Elizabeth by the Area Three Narcotics Police.
<span style="font-weight: bold">Sixty-two year old </span>farmer Marcus Powell also called "Derron" and his companion, Ellorine Rochester otherwise called "Miss Ello" are facing charges of possession of, dealing in and cultivating ganja.
It is reported that during the operations which lasted several hours, the police held Miss Rochester and Mr. Powell as they were tending ganja plants in separate fields.
The police seized 30 pounds of cured ganja and destroyed over 1,000 seedlings <span style="font-weight: bold">in the field which was being tended by Miss Rochester.</span>

They also destroyed another 35 pounds of ganja in the field where Mr. Powell was found.
Five other persons were accosted in a two bedroom house in the community after a search revealed a quantity of weed.
<span style="font-weight: bold">The five farmers have been identified as Ainsworth Simpson,51, Howard Powell, 38, Ryan Ford, 36, Gaymour Simpson, 30 and Bryan Powell, 29, all of Bull Savannah.</span>
All five have been charged with possession of and dealing in ganja.
The seven will face the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrate's Court next week.
