Actually a dumbwaiter is a very small freight elevator commonly used to carry food from the lower floor kitchen to the upper bedrooms. Jefferson had one built at Monticello.

A dumb waiter,..that`s the name of it. </div></div> That's not a dimb waiter. A dumb waiter is a small elivator that is used to carry loads, but not people. They are kind of comon round these patrs. Use the to put stuff on different floors of thehoiuse. safer than eleivator,if power gors out and easier than the stairs to lug sftff.
