No bail for alleged Spanish Town gang leader

Reputed head of the Spanish Town based Klansman Gang Tesha Miller again failed in his bid to be released on bail.

Lawyers representing Miller Wednesday tried to convince a High Court Judge that the alleged gang leader should be released from custody as government prosecutors were struggling to bring a case against him.

However, government prosecutors rebutted the arguments and insisted that they have a case, despite the fact that the sole eyewitness was gunned down last year by the alleged cronies of the accused.

Prosecutors say they will try Miller under the Evidence Act or by way of a &quot;paper trial&quot;.

Tesha Miller is to stand trial on June 8 for the April 7, 2004 murder of Robert Haughton.

He was allegedly killed by Miller and members of his gang in the St. John's Road area.

Miller was also charged with the January 14, 2005 gun-slaying of three persons along Cresser Lane in Braeton, St. Catherine.

But prosecutors were forced to drop that case because the witnesses have been killed or gone into hiding.

I would still hold fire. The police could have killed the so-called witness to try to stitch him up further.
In a corrupt atmosphere such as Jamaica no one knows which side to believe, let the law court decide. As the quote said the Court of Public Opinion is unreliable.
As with the Drug Case posted First Day the police need to investigate crimes properly. Relying on one so-called eyewitness is redundant.

now this give me chills.

I have a few cousins that are police in JA and two of them, given how they stay, I can completely see this as plausible.

The others are stand up guys but they seem to be the expception and not the norm.

but u know, him a go get fe him one way or another, </div></div> That was in march they were trying to decide whether they have a case or not,but thi sis June and he walks free as usual. The only people that gets the justice the want are th eones that have the abillity toi fiught for it. An unarmed man is like a fish with out fins, in th ewter, they can breathe,but they won't survive for long.

</div></div>In the Kraal Killings the police did just that, killed a witness that was paid to finger the victims because she was about to testify against them instead of the other way around.
