If a society is fundamentally lawless, then IT MUST select police from among the lawless citizens. It’s common sense.
Sure, it may seem ironic that those who are tasked to maintain law, order and integrity in the society are themselves lawless and out of order.
However, it is only those of narrow vision will be sucked in by the apparent irony of the law breaking law enforcer.

We need to see the Big Picture of Jamaican society! We need to appreciate and understand the hundreds of years of Jamaican history of crimes of all types against humanity!

Jamaica’s present is very much a product of its past, which was ALWAYS lawless, from the ethnic cleansing of the Tainos to kidnapping and enslavement of the Africans to present.
Jamaica has always been a paradise; but only the fertile imagination of the deluded.

In order to remove lawlessness from the society, so that it can produce lawful police, Jamaica’s resources MUST used to invest away, ignorance and poverty!

The problem has ALWAYS been that Jamaica’s Lands, Wealth, Resources, Power & Opportunities the monopoly of a self-fish and self-centered few.
Jamaica’s resources have never bee allowed to circulate and grow among the bulk of Ja people.

That is why there is so much lawlessness: Citizens are seeking to survive and thrive by any historical means necessary!

The history of Jamaica has ALWAYS been that if you have power, then you are going to make that power work for you. Law and order be damned!

You want lawful police, then create a lawful pool of citizens from which to select police. Otherwise just whine about ‘police corruption’. Police is JUST ANOTHER Jamaican citizen!

the distaste for policemen is a holdover from our Colonial past in part...yep,anodda one laid at the feet of the British...but if u read, u will have read where the British public had a distaste for the early police force...

the upper class felt they were above them and the others , well , poor people and policing go a waysss back in negativity..

anyhoo, the said attitude developed in Ja and continues today....the pool for the force has always been the poor and the poorly educated...

u can see the attitude in the push to elevate a one who come from a good backgrung and of course if dem happen to go to a 'betta' school and go to di force, wellll , dem pass go widdout stopping on dem way to collek dem $200....yes, good dat u have a more educated candidate but the attitudes and divide wid dat come into play in wat is already a deeply troubled force

BS any distaste for policemen and women is a holdover from our corrupt political system, that use the Security Forces to terrorize Jamaican Citizens. Even with that the corrupt Security forces in Jamaica is still very loved and popular in Jamaica.

because he issued a gun to a 15 times convicted Jamaican and was afraid that news was going to be made public?[*]what Colonial ruler ordered the killing by the security forces of men from South Side of Kingston during the 1970s?[*]what are the names of the Colonial rulers who have sat back and watched the Jamaican Security Forces slaughtered more than 2,000 Jamaican citizens over the last 10 years?[*]what Colonial rulers have presided over a country where the security forces have been described by the three Prime Ministers and three Commissioners of Police as corrupt?[*]what Colonial ruler claimed that Jamaicans killed by the police are merely collateral damage in a war?[/list]

Until we are prepared to enunciate, admit and discuss these issues I have to reject outright that the Atlantic Slave Trade, the Colonial period and a few so-called rich Jamaicans have managed to singly-handedly shape the way our society treat each other and responds to the State Security Forces.
