you know- i thought that was them but i said naaaah
so it was really them;
yea i don't know what happened that squashed the spirit that was around in the 60's; i guess the gov't cracked down on this enlightenment era...murdering off the panthers & destroying every positive organization they could get their hands on;
contrast the black athletes of the 60s & early 70's to now...two totally different animals; activism vs. spoiled brat narcisismComment

hippies? naah- not that much related.....nixon? hmmmm; maybe...don't forget reagan; that's when the assault on urban america & the ghetto was in full force;
notice in the 70's it was afros, then in the 80's it was jherri curls & crack cocaine...crack really did a number on the 'hood;
every guy wanted to be a cargo chain wearing drug don & every chick wanted to be a drug princess; seemed like it was either crack dealer or crack-head;
and jamaica usually copied the style of black americans;
in any case the spirit that was around in the 60's & 70's died out, save for a brief time in the late 80's/early 90's;
by that time the 'greed is good' mantra ruled america- jamaica; by that time no one cared anymore about black issues, only green (as in money) issues...the black condition just sort of became accepted & something to avoid rather than to confrontComment
