Personally, I don't care either way about the Madoff's. People scam and are scammed every day. Tough break for those that lost money, but they could have lost it with any other bad investment or scam. This is a big deal to some because of the size of the scam.

Yes I am aware that Madoff ran a ponzi scheme. But as I mentioned before, he had a legit storefront called Madoff investments. He started as a college grad with a small firm and built it into a mega investment house. It is quite possible to do this and be totally legit. Start from nothing, build a firm and become a millionaire.

He didn't go from zero to mega millionaire in a couple of weeks. It took time to build that ponzi...as he got more and more people in on it, he made more and more money. Why would his wife question this. </div></div>

I could NEVER for one moment put myself in her place...to imagine her pain...no way!!

If it came down to a choice between pity and empathy, it would be pity, and even that she doesn't deserve from me.

I empathize with the &quot;investors&quot; whose money had her living fat on the hog; perched up there in the penthouse at Lexington Avenue...well, tough, she was evicted.

Again, for the record, i don't know if this woman was in cahoots with her husband, but I strongly believe that she knew what was going on [and could have even been the force behind it]...<span style="font-weight: bold">since she is so innocent, why are the children NOT speaking to her as reported?</span> Do they suspect something, smell a rat?

Your own children, your children of all people who should be there to comfort and console you, at such a difficult time that could be even seen as worse than death in the family, why have they forsaken you? What should they be afraid of just by talking with you?

They forsake not only the father, but you as well? Give me a break !!

no, actually i wasnt kidding, which is why i said she had my empathy. no matter what she did/did not do she still must feel some pain (of her doing/not of her doing) that i can feel her pain and can imagine how she might feel. i also empathize with the investors, who have every right to want justice (of which i dont think they will ever fully realize). my empathy doesnt mean that she and her husband are not to pay for whatever crimes they may/may not have committed.

but mi just soft like that.

anyhow...carry on...when mi see something else that peaks my interest i'll respond.

the ponzi side of the company was the &quot;asset manangement&quot; side, whereas the legit side of the business was the &quot;trade execution&quot; side. brokers would pay his company a fee to execute trades so that side made the legit money.

there are least 8-10 other people that need to be charged including the compliance officer and the compliance lawyer (his brother and niece).

the 2 sons also worked at the company and owe the company millions that they should not have borrowed in the first place.

Seems that way, Saw a documentary tonight that said that he was running two different business in the same building two floors apart...one legit and one phony. Ah wondah which one the wife was controlling the books for?
