Jamaican attitude toward Michael

I have nothing against Michael Jackson, in fact, I think he was one of the world's greatest entertainers....what baffles me, is how so many Jamaicans who are so dead against "battyism" turn a blind eye to the facets of Michael Jackson's life.

I am not saying he was a [censored]....only that he had a very unusual childhood that made him into a very disturbed man, unable to deal with the real world.

If any other man would even LOOK like he looked or had any of the acusations aimed at him....in Jamaica, he would be toast, or salt, however you may want to term it.

I've seen a man totally slandered here because ONE person said a wrong ting about his sexuality.....so how dat goh??....enlighten me please

it could be that there were no facts that he was gay or even committed these acts. jamaicans are not backwards third world buffoons many of us are capable of understanding that this man grew up unlike many children with no childhood and tried to recreate that and can identify with america's fascination with building then tearing a person down.

I KNEW this post would draw all kind of defensive sintin.....I am not saying ANYTHING derogitory about Jamaicans....just trying to understand how a Jamaican man in Jamaica who exibited these traits would probably be beaten down in some way, but Michael is deemed blameless. Is it because he is a celebrity?....really just trying to overstand the culture I'm living in.

Thanks Queen, I understand that....just had second thoughts &amp; erased what I had to say because it's late and I'm not really a person who likes to get into anything confrontational....gone to my bed....just continually puzzeled by attitudes here, not judgemental, just puzzled.

thes aremen that are the Who's who of the arts and letters,and no body want to harm them.
It is much more complex than it appear . Yes some will be attacked for being acused, while others will be attacked without eve a suspicion.
But ther are the throng of prominent openly gay men who behave without regard to any notion of hiding their sexuality.
And ther is no negative reaction from the common man. It has a lot to do with certain subtle behavior that Jamaicans still respect.. som eiof these hold the highest honors given to living Jamaicans and are still openly gay.
If Peter King did not attempt to rape the man who killed him he would not be attacked anywher he go in Jamaica. it is all about who seem vulnerable. You say that you are puzzled. That mean you are morew concious of you rsurroundings in relation to Jamaican culture. As kong as you remain puzzled, you are safe. The moment you think you reallyunderstand, you are in big trouble.

If you look back on your time living there you may find that ther have been cases where you thought you really understood, a situation. Only for it to be revaled to be more complex, or way off th emak,of what previously thought to be. Any way it is all good, you will make it in Jamaica.

Most Jamaicans who profess violence towards a certain group of persons tend to avoid attacking successful black persons that fit a profile that would cause others of a similar makeup to be damned.

He died on friday at 12 noon, and on sunday morning early he was not in the tomb.
That is not even 2 full days.
12noon friday until 12noon saturday and 12noon saturday until 6am on sunday. 1 and 1/2 days. Whio said it was 3 anyway? They can't count?
