Re: Quincy Jones on MJ: He Didn't Want To Be Black

He admitted then to being a perfectionist and added, “I’m never pleased with myself. No, I try not to look in the mirror.”

Has anyone stopped to think that MJ could've been upset and worried about seeing his image change before his eyes beyond his control? ie what the vitiligo was doing to his appearance?
There are cancer victims on chemo with hair loss who are NOT pleased with how they look either and resultantly will be afraid to look in the mirror...they don't want to see what is looking back at then...and they compensate with wigs, toupees and the whole nine yards.
Even if they put the word "perfectionist" in the same sentence with his appearance, it doesn't NECESSARILY mean that that is what he meant...re his appearance...writers can twist one word in a sentence to create a whole range of different meanings..
and if that is what MJ meant, so what?
He had his nose done over 150 times I heard, [in fact it seems that the whole family had their nose done]
So what?
A lot of this has to do with the culture of showbiz...they were always in the limelight...also remember that MJ allegedly was under the influence of "prescribed" drugs most of the time, the sad truth...so his thought process could have been altered...but as Rev Al said, whatever MJ did he did it to the max...he did it his way...he pleased HIMSELF...it matters NOT what "they" say...Now will "they leave him alone" as Marlon requested?
[quote]..from the same interview In fact, during the same interview with Oprah, Jackson stated emphatically: “I’m a black American, I am proud of my race. I am proud of who I am.”
A total denial of the quote above...
