Soldier vs Police

I was reading something on the Gleaner's site the other day about police being murdered and the fear hitting home for most of them on the force.

Anyway, I was wondering why the government does not declare a state of emergency and instill military rule to regain some form of order. There is something seriously wrong when the police force is scared of the citizens. I have never heard of any cases where soldiers felt fearful of walking the streets. Why is this?

The imposition of military rule won't solve Jamaica's crime problem, it runs alot deeper than that. We need to treat the causes and not the symptoms.

What about the public who live in fear of the police? The JCF is a police force with one of the highest per capita killing of its citizens in the world.
The last time it fell below a hundred was in 1995 when Col. Trevor MacMillan commissioner.

Insanity is when you do the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.

Police need to be <span style="font-weight: bold">MUCH</span> better paid, better trained better equipped and better staffed for anything to change in JA.

And how effective was that?
Will the well paid and well equip police be able to be at all places all the time?
You know what is hopelessness?
it is the same thing that cause people to kill themselves. Unless they are willing ti deal with suicide bombing, they better do something about what us causing the problem.
People who have nothing to lose place no value on the lives of others.
Policing is nit the problem. Policing does not prevent crime and murder.
Hope and faith in the future is the primary tool. They better nit waste more money in frivolous actions that will only end in loss of confidence in the police ability to maintain order.

My thoughts are that if they imposed military rule then there would be not much change there,the military already is the face of law and order in some of the most volatile parts of jamaica.

The police force has every reason to be scared of the citizens,for years the police force has appeared to be nothing more than a corrupt bunch of gangsters in uniforms,they have intimidated,bullied,disrespected,and murdered the citizens of jamaica,some seem to think that gaining a badge entitles them to exact their own retribution on the citizens of jamaica.
Some have absolutely no respect for the human rights of the citizens,and they murder suspects with impunity because they know there will be no retribution even when there are numerous witnesses to re-butt their lies about what happened.


The reason why soldiers are fearful of walking the streets is because of the same reason as the police,jamaica is not yet a military state yet we have soldiers gunning down jamaica`s citizens,and are not accountable to anyone.

Lawlessness in jamaica works both ways,it will continue because the law enforcement people,the ones who should set a higher standard are no better than so-called criminals,how can the government instill any form of order until they clean up their own establishments,that is where it steeps from,the government can never claim any higher ground as long as the citizens see police and soldiers as little more than shake down artists and corrupt murderers.

I have a cousin who only God knows is a policeman in JA. He was telling us about his &quot;day at work&quot; while making us breakfast one morning. He said how him and his colleagues shot up the hiding place of cornered robber. He said it was easier to just kill off the man instead of devising a tactic to get him out of his hiding place and do the paperwork necessary to book and process a robber.


Next week when we were going to certain parts of Kingston he freaked out because he was afarid someone might recongnize him out of uniform and he didnt have his gun with him

So we couldnt finish our visit because he was with us.


If ppl like him exist on the police froce then they should be fearful of their lives becasue they show no regard for anyone else. Matter of fact, if this cousin catches a bullet while off duty because of his actions on duty, he deserves to die.....Pay back is a b*itch.

So military rule wont help the siutation if the police force have such ppl existing as the norm instead of the exception.

If yuh tink about it Wi hav been down di soldier path in di island, many times over the years, and nutten really has changed. Dem jus return back tuh business as usual once di soldiers dem leave.
