Fi'unnu that don't already know it, Seveen's mother passed last week. She lived a few minutes away from me.
Seveen and I linked Friday - thanks to Laurel and Nanook, who lent helping hands - and we gave Seveen's mom a fine send-off.
We had what Seveen terms "a real Jamaican wake". The neighbors cooked the repast after the funeral service, and the tables were groaning under the weight of chicken, rice and peas, cook-up, tossed salad, potato salad, biscuits, and plenty of desserts.
One neighor brought homemade sorrel, another brought Appleton's. Mista Witchy and I brought 21-year aged Appleton's and some other good stuff.
But the best of all was the opportunity for Seveen and har son and har cousin and Mr Witchy and I to all get together and get to know each other. We all think this her mother's parting gift.
Mr Witchy's car left us stranded at the funeral home after the service... a neighbor of mine came to get us and take us back to my house, where my trusty ole Babycakes carried us around. Trust a 30-yr-old American-made Oldsmobile Cutlass Brougham over a rice-burner Nissan Maxima any day... trust me! lol
<span style="font-size: 8pt"><span style="font-style: italic">(<span style="font-style: italic">never mind that the "American-made" Olds Cutty is really a North American Canadian-made and the rice-burner Nissan maxima is reallhy made in the USA</span>)</span></span>
Seveen hasn't got Internet, so she asked me to post how she's doing.
Glad to hear that Seveen is coping. Say howdie from me, willya? Ta.
and Abu too!....hope everyone at the "sendoff" enjoyed the nyammings and festivities.
