Jackson family to attend Reggae Sumfest
Thursday, 16 July 2009
Less than a month after the most popular member of the Jackson family died, news has emerged that the family will be guests at next week's Reggae Sumfest.
The last time the entire family gathered was at last week's memorial service for pop idol Michael Jackson, who died on June 25.
In what is expected to be a giant music festival, our sources say the Jackson family has confirmed their attendance.
It is understood that tourism officials along with Youth and Culture Minister Olivia "Babsy" Grange are scheduled to break the news officially between Thursday and Friday.
Meanwhile, the police hierarchy is said to be strategizing in order to provide the best security detail for the family.
Reports are that they will be attending the Reggae Sumfest International Night Two staging on July 25 at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre in Montego Bay.
It has not yet been established whether members of the family will actually grace the stage.
However it is felt that the prominence of members such as Janet and Latoya could lead to a huge jump in last minute bookings to Jamaica for the event.
The Jackson Five, a group comprising Michael and his four brothers, performed in Jamaica in 1975 to rave reviews.
Michael died on June 25 of an apparent cardiac arrest.
Investigators are still trying to determine if his death was a result of an accidental drug overdose or should be treated as a homicide.
The memorial service on July 7 at Los Angeles Staples Centre was attended by about 20,000 people while an estimated 31 million persons in the U.S. viewed it on television.

We never see Rebbie out in public. Latoya doesn't have to ride a plane the right gust of wind, then she can just ride inside ofthat big black hat she was wearing at the funeral.
I couldn't see Marlon good on account of that thing.
