One of the saddest and most unspoken injustices in America is the segregation among Blacks. Over the centuries, light-skinned African Americans have been known to discriminate against their darker-skinned brethren. Thus, the latter actually suffered a double segregation during the Segregation era, in terms of residential, business, church or other communities.
This practice seems to have survived to some extent to this day. After President Obama's condescending speech to Africans in which he largely endorsed caricatures and stereotypes of Africa as corrupt and tribalistic, we decided to take a look at his own backyard. His apparent use of the brown paper bag test to chose his black appointees does not suggest a clean record on tribalism/racism. Let us remember that the aforementioned test was used throughout history by light-skinned African-Americans to determine who among their brethren should be admitted into privileged educational, business and other social institutions: Those whose skin complexion was lighter than the brown paper bag. While the paper is no longer literally held against the candidate's face, this mentality remains pervasive among some lighter-skinned African-Americans. Either way, it seems that all of the black appointees in Obama's Administration have passed the test.

The darked skin male do have preferences vs the light skin male it depends on the scope it seems. Especially when weakness for the men (goodness for the women) is attributed to lightness.
i have observed that lighter blacks tend towards a mission of a better image for blacks (for the obvious reason) and usually on the intellectual train too. hmm

Now this start to get more interest.
For some reason it come back again to the same points.
What them set out to prove. Especially now that you throw in Marley, reminds me of a few light skinned men back home. It is hard to figure out which angle them attack from. Wanting to prove that they are white because the dark skin women want them or to prove that they are as potent as the next dark skin male. Then you have those that try to prove their difference by means of education and play white, live decent, high achievers etc.
Being a woman I gots no clue but the myths are numerous. Who stiff pan de dancefloor stiff in bed they say. But then again skin is not the only factor. Some are lightskinned by coincidence and live the myths out to hell while some lightskinned women live loose knowing that they will get a husband anyhow, just because of their skin colour.

I haven't found an advantage. all my friends are much darker than I and they have made many positive steps in their careers while I'm struggling. I'm more educated than they are and have a wider range of skills but I still struggle.
Personally I resent the divide amongst black people, its ridiculous and just keeps us apart and unsuccessful as a community. the topic to me isn't worth discussing as much as we should discuss how to fix our community, and give a better legacy to our children.Comment
