Sounds men who soon proved to be popular with the crowd included Fatman, of the reigning Fatman Hi Fi, in Tottenham, and Sir Coxsone, a tall, slim, studious veteran of London’s blues and sound system scene, also from Wandsworth. Coxsone became a regular at Four Aces dances: his sound was among the first to play dub.

Phebes was later renamed Willows and then Trenz, its now an
upmarket apartment building, I pass it everyday.

Four Aces closed a number of years ago can't remember if its been demolished.
That area of Dalston is being rebuilt as part of the 2012 Olympics.

North London had so many clubs, hardly any left now.

All I remember from Coxsone is Lloydie, Castro and Festos.

Memories indeed!

Although I was at the tail end of all the raving being as young as I am... But I did go to All Nations. My most favourite club - did any of you ever venture into the basement of that place it was so dark down there you didn't know whether you were dancing with man, woman or beast Well<span style="font-style: italic">, suh mi hear anyway</span>

I remember as a youngster listening to my friends' older siblings talking about &quot;Fee-Biz&quot;, I recall thinking that that was the first place I was going to go when I got older. I lived close to it back then and remember always having my face press up against the church van window as we drove passed it on a Sunday morning dreaming of the day when I could be in there showing off my latest dance moves. I managed to go to Phebes once under its guise as Willows and a few <span style="font-style: italic">*cough*</span> times under the name Trenz - sadly never under its original name.

Cubies I didn't get to go to there under the original name but went there a few times under its later names such as Roseberry's.

Ahhh... Four Aces. Went there a couple of times. LOVED it my kind of knee tremblin', heart jerking out of your chess deep, gully battam music!

I'm more recent, than the those original magnificent great places. Mingles, Dougies, Shenola, La Prison, Faces, etc. era - Wow... it was all about North East London in those days.
