PERHAPS in response to damning Internet articles of Jermaine Jackson — brother of the late King of Pop, blasting reports that he and his brothers are coming to Jamaica — the Ministry of Culture issued a release late last night in an attempt to clarify the situation.
According to the news release, the Government of Jamaica offered members of the Jackson family a vacation in the island to help them deal with the loss of Michael Jackson.
Prime Minister Bruce Golding, the release says, spoke with Michael Jackson’s brother, Tito, to express condolence on behalf of the people of Jamaica; and to offer the warmth of his country to the Jackson family.
Tito takes up Jamaica’s offer on Friday when he arrives in Montego Bay for a retreat and the music festival, Reggae Sumfest, which will be dedicated to the memory of his brother.
