Don Foote
Attorney-at-law Don Foote, who is charged with fraud, is to stand trial next month before the Corporate Area Criminal Court.
The September 29 trial date was set on Tuesday when the attorney appeared in court.
Foote was charged in May on allegations that he defrauded one of his clients, a minor, of J$12 million .
It's reported that in 2009, the Supreme Court awarded J$18 million to a little boy in a personal injury case. The court award stemmed from an incident in which the child lost an arm.
Foote, who represented the minor, collected $6 million in legal fees, but allegedly failed to pay over the remaining amount to the child.
Foote has denied the allegations. However, investigators say the money was awarded in 2013 and they have evidence to show that Mr. Foote received the money in his account back then, but failed to pay over the funds to his client.
