The Bank of Jamaica has cut its benchmark interest rates by 25 basis points. The cut takes effect today.
In a release on Monday, the central bank said it will cut the 30 day Certificate of Deposit to 5.25%, from 5.5%.
It said the decline stems from the continued reduction in macro economic vulnerabilities with the current economic reform programme.
Low inflation also underpins the reduction, with consumer prices expected to be in a range of 5.5% to 7.5%.
