How are voluntary and involuntary Baker Act Admissions different?

An involuntary Baker Act is when a person is taken to a receiving facility for involuntary examination when there is reason to believe that he or she is mentally ill and because of his or her mental illness, the person has refused voluntary examination; the person is unable to determine for himself or herself whether examination is necessary and without care or treatment, the person is likely to suffer from neglect or refuse to care for himself or herself and such refusal could pose a threat of harm to his or her well being; and there is a substantial likelihood that without care or treatment, the person will cause serious bodily harm to himself, herself or others in the near future as evidenced by recent behavior.

here at my workplace dem woulda juss fire her
okay a lie dem noh dat heartless but if HR refer her to the counselors an shi noh tek di advice, if her behavior is affecting other peoples performance then we would give her the option to go on disability under the Dr's care or fire her.

There is no proof that she has not gone to see a therapist and I was only told that in confidence so it would be hard to challenge.
I have told members of the team to escalate to HR individually so they could see that something needs to be done. We are all seriously worried.Comment

attended a workshop recently with a scenario similar to what u described Spots. In the workshop, the subject who behaved like ur crazy lady turned out to be nursing some chronic condition and was keeping it from people.
to what i recall from the workshop, the idea is to have a discussion in a nonconfrontational manner with subject, lay out ur complaints in a clear and dispassionate manner and ask subject for their side, then be clear as to what ur expectations are from subject about behaviour and discuss with them what they are prepared to acknowledge/do about their behaviour.
apparently it is under this kind of non-judgmental, discussion type scenario that subjects tend to disclose underlying issues.
that's the theory, anyway. good luck to u and all who have to address this behaviour.Comment

I plan to start this process immediately. I'll pay another visit to HR who might be able to help in this effort.

One ting, i would do though. Is be one of di person who brings her donut and coffee from time to time. Just in case shi decide fi goh Postal wan ah dem days. Dat way sih memba mi in ah kind way if shi finally slip off di edge.Comment

I wouldn't give her anything. What if she shoots you first cuz she thought you were trying to poison her with the donut?

Well, mi fi wan hav always stated mi cracked, maybi even ah few screws loose. Betewwn yuh an mi though, som ah dem people aan yah (mi naa caal noh names) hav way more screws looser dan mi, an dem kno who dem is.
