On behalf of the United States, I would like to congratulate the people of Jamaica as they celebrate 47 years of independence. Our two nations are united by shared history, common values, and strong cultural, economic, and family ties. Jamaicans have contributed so much to the culture and economy of the United States, and together our two countries are working to support democracy, enhance security, and create opportunity across the Caribbean region. The best wishes of the people of the United States are with Jamaicans today as they attend thanksgiving services and participate in celebrations across the country, including the Festival Float Parade and the Grand Gala, the culmination of a national arts competition that highlights the best of Jamaican culture. We are committed to strengthening our partnership and building a brighter future for all our people. </div></div>
