Unbelievable

After work today, I headed to the post office in the city I'm moving to pick up my mailbox keys armed with ID and the notice from the post office. Arrived at the post office and the clerk informed me that I needed to show proof that I'm moving to the new place. I told him, I haven't moved in as yet however I have possession. He wanted a bill showing my name and the address of the new house. \o/

OK, I know I'm not that bright but explain to me how can I access a bill in my mailbox if I don't have the key to access the mailbox? I tried to point that out to him but he just wasn't getting it; claiming it's Canada Post policy.

Urghhhhhhhhhh.

Thankfully I had some documents in my car with the address and my name which he accepted as proof that I was the right person. \o/

Tell me about it. Honestly.

If I get a bill at the new address, it will go into my mailbox. In order to get the bill from my mailbox, I need a key. Mr. Mail Clerk you have my key. Without you giving me my key, I cannot get the bill from the mailbox. duhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I thought about that J Kid. After all, I have a chinese last name and I don't look chinese. I took out every piece of ID and cards that I had in my wallet and asked him if he thought I was impersonating a chinese person? I was livid....but mi neva cuss no badwud.

I get that all the time. At a previous job I had almost daily interaction with the public. People would alway give me a funny look when they were introduced to me.

One day, an oriental lady came in my office and said, she was looking for ms x. I said, yes that's me how can I help you. She rolled her eyes and said I cannot be ms x, because ms x is chinese.

I assured here that although I am not chinese, I am indeed ms x. She shook her head at me an walked out the office. She never did come back, I assume she either found the ms x she was looking for, or due to shame when she realized she was wrong she called in for assistance.

but seriously, you are right.

speaking of passport, yesterday I had to take an emergency trip across the border. I forgot my passport and my daughter had no ID on her. I actually talked my way across. On the way back, I chatted with the Canadian officer to the point that he forgot to ask us for IDs. Unbelievable.
